4 COOKIES AT 5
Some time ago we read a brief article
regarding the Congressional publication,
"The Dietary Goals for the United State"
published by the Select Committee on
Nutrition and Human Needs.
Of the many interesting conclusions in
this report is the supposition that too
many of us are replacing nutritional
carbohydrates with too much sugar.
Or, as one writer put it, "If you eat
4 cookies at 5, you probably won't
want to eat your green beans at
suppertime."
(Hey, we've had our kids on a
three-day starvation diet and they
still refused to eat their green beans.)
We also heard on TV that just one
teaspoon of sugar a day for a whole
year would add two pounds to our
weight.
To live better and longer, we must
become cognizant of the quantity and
and nutritional value of our food intake.
