SOFTLY, WHITE POWERED SNOW

                                          Softly, white powdered snow
                           Silently drifted downward
                           From grey, cloudy skies above
                           Settling down around the pointed
                           Mountain tops shining with
                           A subtle crystal glow diffused

                           Early, the following morning,
                           Torrents completely covered
The mountain sides, all the way
                           Down to valley floor below
                           Leaving no doubt, winter
                           in Utah had finally, definitely
                           arrived

HOLD ON

                                                                                         HOLD ON

Bias, a Greek philosopher wrote that
"The greatest misfortune of all is
not to be able to bear misfortune."

In times of misfortune, what shall we do...
Hold on   with faith in God
Hold on   with hope in your heart
Hold on   wait patiently and pray
Hold on   Until the dark clouds depart
Hold on   Do not give up
Hold on   As the  Spirit gently whispers
Hold on   I understand and care

God continuously works on our behalf.
He can make for us good fortune from
                                                 even our greatest misfortunes.

IN THE NEXT THREE SECONDS

                                    IN THE NEXT THREE SECONDS

                                        In trying to succeed, most

                                        of us often have temporary
                                        setbacks or failures. Things
just don't go our way or the
                                        way we planned.

                                        When this has happened in
                                        the past, we often became
                                        frustrated, even irritated.
                                        (Uh-oh, I sense a cuss word
                                        coming on. Rats.)

                                        Very recently, after breaking
my left wrist, and feeling out of
                                        of sorts, the following thought
                                        came into mind...

For the next three seconds, be still, think nothing.                                                 Lord,The next three seconds are totally yours
You loaned them to me to use for a short time.
I give them back to you to use as

                      you deem necessary.

I fill those three seconds with quietness,
serenity, and joyful thoughts and words,
such as thank you, Father, thank you Jesus,
                                          thank you, Holy Spirit.

Don't get bogged down with counting seconds
or words. Thank God for whomever or whatever
you desire. This is an open ended meditation.
It may be used any time you wish. You may
think or speak praiseworthy words as they
come to mind, or you may be silent.

                                          This exercise will remove negative
thoughts or words and replace them
                                          with more congenial, calmer ones.

(80+ 1)  WHO IS PATIENT

                                      (80+ 1)  WHO IS PATIENT

                                       Nearly all needful things
come to him who is patient.

                                       Some men succeed because
                                       of inheritance, while others
                                       forge ahead because they have
an inner urge or drive to succeed.

The gods of good fortune may
                                       occasionally smile on some, and
                                       lavish them with abundant wealth.

But, most of us prosper because
of our constant, continuous hard work,
                                       coupled with time and patience.

TIME, GOING, GOING...

                                                                  TIME, GOING, GOING...

One of our favorite pieces of poetry
is an inscription on the door of a
                                   grandfather clock in Chester Cathedral...

"When, as a child, I laughed and wept,
                                   Time crept.
When, as a youth, I dreamed and talked,
                                   Time walked.
When I became a full grown man,
                                   Time ran.
And later, as I older grew,
                                   Time flew.
Soon I shall find, while traveling on,
                                   Time gone.
Will Christ have saved my soul by then?
                                   Amen."

PRAY FOR ALL

1/17/2020

                                                                           PRAY FOR ALL

                                      With my recent injuries, help
                                      came from many sources, from
                                      within my local hometown church,
and much food and prayers from
those not connected to my church,
or no church for that matter.

I came to realize that at some time
in our lives, if we live long enough,
we may encounter some pain or
sorrow. (I went more than sixty years
without the need of a surgeon.

Somewhere between the ages of 74
and 80, I began to have mild medical
problems. Only a few were seriously
painful. With each ailment or accident,
                                      my prayer time increased substantially.

And it has occurred to me that everyone
needs to be prayed for every day. We
all could use the prayers of others. We
cannot make our prayer list too long.

DECEMBER , 2019

                                       DECEMBER, 2019

That's a blah title for an article
wouldn't you say? But with Donna

having the flu off and on, and me
                               constantly falling, the Christmas
                               season passed rather quickly.

Most of my December falls were
                               of little consequence. Unfortunately,
on one of my falls, I broke my right
thumb and my left wrist. This put a
crimp in my typing and posting of
                               articles.

The week prior to my wrist and thumb
breakage, I had a double hernia operation.
So for the month of December, I was
                               pretty well banged up.

Six weeks of recovery have now
passed. My thumb and hernias are
now healed. But my left wrist
is still pretty painful. In 2-3 weeks,
it should back to normal and pain free.
Sunday, December 19, I should be
posting my regular amount articles on
                               morganofriverton.com/open road.
Thanks to all that have prayed for me
wished me and Donna well these past
                               weeks.  bm
