HE CARETH FOR YOU  653

      He Careth For You

"As you thinketh, in your heart, so are you>"
     (proverbs 23:7 Paraphrased)

"Very little is needed to make a happy life.
It is all within yourself, in Your way of thinking."
     (Marcus Aurelius)

"Most people are about as happy as they make
up their minds to be." (Abraham Lincoln)

This is the day to be happy, for yesterday has
long vanished from our view, and tomorrow has not
     yet arrived.

Try, if you will, each morning, to commit your
total life into the hands of God, trusting him to do
His best for you, for you are his child and He loves
you very much. He will straighten out your thinking
and give you a new heart, everyday, if you ask him
      to.

For He careth for you. (I Peter 5:7)

STAY COOL  652

                                          STAY COOL  652

Hot weather just does not bring out the best
in some us. It decreases our patience and increases
our temper flare-ups. Sound familiar?   Perhaps
that's the way it is, occasionally, in your home
     as well as ours.

Perhaps God permits us to have a season of
hot weather to allow us to increase our perception
of our inability to "stay cool" on our own.

And, He also uses this hot humid weather to
persuade us, once again, that indeed, we can do
nothing spiritually important without the Spirit's help.

O Lord, for many of us, this is the season
we need You most of all. Help us to stay cool
this summer, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

ALLELUIA OUR SONG   649

     ALLELUIA OUR SONG 649

No matter how far I may travel
Over land or sea or air
There is no distance can separate me
    From God's eternal loving care

If I were thrown for a loss
Every day for the rest of my life
Thy solace and peace I gladly confess
Would give me succor for my struggle and strife

O faint heart be thou nor weary
Of the cross you're required to carry
Just remember the life of our master
And the of the sins He was willing to share

Let no sad songs come from our lips
No dirges be sung to the throng
But glory be to the Lord of our life
     And alleluia, alleluia our song

GOING, GOING, GONE

                                                       GOING, GOING, GONE

                                        2020 has finally slipped away
And a new year has taken its
                                        place. 2020 will always be
                                        zed recognized as the year
                                        of the deadly pandemic whose
                                        tentacles of sickness and death
                                        touched hundreds of thousands
                                        around the globe.

                                        Thousands of businesses closed,
many lost their well paying jobs

And in the U.S., the Democrats
                                        managed to take control of
                                        all three branches of government.
It will be more than interesting
to see how that turns out.

On the positive side, more prayers
                                       were said, more scriptures read,
                                       more neighbors helped more neighbors,
and we all learned virtually to do anything.

For those of you who weathered
                                       storms and basically arrived into
the new year unscathed, you were
                                       fortunate and blessed, indeed

PRAISE THE LORD  648

                                              PRAISE THE LORD  648

"From the rising of the sun unto the going down
of the same, the Lord's name is to be praised."
                  (Psalm 113:3)

O Lord, we praise Thy holy name
                  From dawn to setting sun
For all the beauty of the earth
                  O Great and Holy One.

O Lord, we praise Thy holy name
                  We sing with one accord
                  For all thy bounteous blessings
And the power of Thy word.

O Lord, we praise Thy Holy name
A sinless propitiation for us all
For by Thy blood Thou ransomed us
And saved us from the fall.

Liz and I  #647

   LIZ AND I 647

A few days ago, Billy (almost 10) and Matt (almost 8)
went to a Cub Scout Day camp. While there, Billy
captured Liz the lizard and brought her home.

A few nights later, after all the children were
supposedly in bed, Billy came down and reported that
Liz was lost, no longer to be found in her glass container.

On the way up to Billy's room, I said a quick
prayer, asking Heavenly Father to help find Liz. We
pulled the bureau from the wall...no Liz. Then, I picked
up the grass in Billy's left over Easter Basket and shook
it. Plop! Out fell the lizard onto the bureau.

So, old dad was the hero of the night. But, he also
let his family know that the happy ending was a direct
result of a simple prayer to a loving God who cares and
is concerned...even about the "little thing
s" in life.

He Is Able #645

                                   HE IS ABLE 645

"If a care is too small to be turned into a prayer,"
wrote Corrie ten Boom, "It is too small to be made
            into a burden."

When shall we who profess a dynamic Christian life
ever stop brooding and worrying over the day to day
problems that continuously enter into our lives?

When shall we ever learn that our most gigantic,
serious problems as well as our smallest, bothersome
            irritations are known by God.

And, large or small, He is able to handle them all.

Resist evil with good. Turn you burdens into prayers.
            He can handle your problems.

SKYLAB HAS FALLEN  644

      Skylab Has Fallen

(This article was written prior to
Skylab's dramatic splash down. If per chance
I'm the "one" out of 650 million who gets hit,
you'll know better next time to pay closer
      attention to my predictions.)

At the onset, I realized my first prediction
will upset thousands of my readers
(optimistic soul, aren't I) who take delight
     in being superstitious. Because, flatly
predict Skylab will not fall on Friday the
13th, regardless whether there be a full moon
or not. A black cat may land on you roof,
     but no Skylab.

Actually, and contrary to NASA's prediction
that Skylab will land in the Atlantic on July 11,
I believe that at least one piece of equipment will
hang in the atmosphere and wait until the evening
on July 14, which just happens to be Donna's and
    my 13th wedding anniversery.

It will be on of those rare occasions in
which I have just finished treating my wife to
a delicious Eastern Shore seafood dinner.

The hit will occur about two minutes after
I've paid the bill. A policeman will rush up
to the scene and ask my wife the cause of my
    demise.

My wife will reply, "I'm not sure, officer,
it was so sudden, like a bolt out of the blue!"
