LIFE ITSELF

                                                          LIFE ITSELF

"The happy man," wrote R.J. Baugham,
is he who lives the life of love, not for the honors
it may bring, but for life itself."

That kind word, that reassuring look, that
gentle way that lifts the burdens of another...
This is the stuff that life's made of.

To share the story of our life and the mercy,
grace and love which has continually been poured
out upon us by a merciful and loving Lord... What
                    greater honor is there?

To love, not for honors, but for the sake of love
                    only, ah, that is...Life itself.

                                                With white gentle peace
                                                And solemnities all around

                                                Throughout the land
                                                How blessed we are
                                                To have a savior
                                                Go with us
                                                In the new year
                                                Forthcoming
                                                How blessed we are

DON'T PLAN SATURDAY

                                                                       DON'T PLAN SATURDAY

This past evening, Donna and I
were discussing all the numerous activities
our family was planning to participate in,
                                               come Saturday.

The more we planned, the more it dawned
on us that it was not too wise, to plan too
much, too far in the future.

Far too often, if we plan too much ahead,
then we worry too much about how we'll
get it all done in the time allowed.
And, we get tired just thinking about how
tired we'll be after the day is done.

39 (AGAIN...2016)    630

                         39 (AGAIN...2016)

Yes, once again, it's birthday time at our home.
It's at times like these that one is wont to be
profound, but alas, the school year has drained us of
any profoundness, and most of our sanity.

However, on this occasion, we would like to pass
    along these observations....

Everywhere we turn, in business, politics,
education and religion, we seem to be surrounded by
incompetent wise men. (Everyone seems to have the pat
answer for everyone else except themselves.)

Secondly, for us, the Bible still remains as our
    greatest single source of solace.

And finally, but perhaps most importantly of all....
    Grace abounds.

SIMPLICITY

                                                                                SIMPLICITY

                                                "Simplicity of character," wrote William
Hazlitt, "is the natural result of profound
                                                thought."

Trying to expound on these lines
through words or phrases is a formidable
                                                task.

But, in our mind's eye we can see the lives
of men such as Thoreau, Ghandi, Lincoln,
                                                Moses and Christ...and our understanding
                                                becomes illuminated.

These men continually took the right course
of action at the right time, in the right way
                                                for the right reason...
and they left their moth-eaten contemporaries
                                                behind.

To be profound is to be simple
To be simple is to be profound.

NEVER MIND THE STORMS 638

                                                      NEVER MIND THE STORMS 638

                                  We recently saw a bookmarker
with these words printed at the
                                  top, "Never Mind the Storms."
                                  Below this inscription was a
                                  beautiful canyon scene with
                                  myriad shades of brown and
                                  black with white and misty
pinks and purples on a wide
                                  expanse of a canyon gorge.

And, down at the bottom of
the depths of the small gorge
                                 languished a soft colorful
                                 rainbow.

                                 Never mind the storms. They
will pass. They will pass. They
                                 always have. They always will.

And the Maker of Rainbows will
will remain with us as a trusted
                                 friend, like a brother committed
to our well being and safe keeping,
                                 now and always.
