THE MILLER

                                                                                THE MILLER

In the 1800's, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
                                   translated the following epigram written
by the 17th century poet, Friedrich von Logau...

"Though the mills of God grind slowly,
                                   yet they grind exceeding small;
"Though with patience he stands waiting,

                                   with exactness grinds he all."

The Miller of our souls seeks grain that's
free from chaff and tares. He desires us
become living loaves free from all impurities,
filled with a savor, sweet smelling and divine.

Thy grinding, Oh Lord, pinches so
But we rejoice, knowing your love shall flow
Keep on grinding 'till we're soft and fine
That you may one day say
                                  This grain is mine
                                  This grain is mine

                                                           FRIENDSHIP

                                               Friendship lingers

                                               Friendship laughs
                                               Friendship looks beyond the tears
                                               Friendship lasts beyond the years
                                               Friendship multiplies consolation
                                               while dividing grief
                                               Friendship confirms the dignity
                                               of man
                                               Friendship forgets frailties while
                                               reverencing reputation
                                               Friendship affirms affection
Friendship is an art of the heart
                                               Friendship is an open door
                                               to the open road

                                                                                     QUO VADIS?

Ever since the Apostle, Peter asked this
                                       question, two centuries ago...
                                       "Whither goest thou?"
Millions of men and women have been asking
                                       this challenging question of themselves.
Where shall we go this day?
                                       Into places termed sinister?
                                       Into situations unbecoming?

                                       Into thoughts that are thoughtless?
                                       Into actions that are ruthless?
Where shall we go this day?
Into valleys of kindness and compassion?
Into worlds that are not worldly?
                                       Into dimensions that are divine?

Into paths of prayer and peace?
Now, as in ages past...the destiny of men
and nations depends on our daily reply to
                                       the question...Quo Vadis?
                                       (John 13:36)

ALL ROADS LEAD SOMEWHERE

                                          ALL ROADS LEAD SOMEWHERE

In the space and time allotted to us all,
                                        we travel down many roads.
                                        Occasionally, because of confused
                                        directionality or erroneous judgment we
may accidentally wind up on the wrong road.

                                        One important principle we have
                                        discovered is this…
As long as we have breath, it is
never too late to get off the
wrong road.

We may have to back up and turn around.
                                        We may lose some time,
But, with patience - persistence -
and faith - we can get back on the right road.

Some roads lead to palaces of kings
Some roads lead to dead ends
Some roads lead to happiness of heart
Some roads lead to cherished friends

I love the roads that lead to home
Roads that bless, that give, that care
Oh, Father, let me no more roam
From roads that lead to loftier air

ALL DRIED UP

                                                        ALL DRIED UP

One of the problems most of us face,
especially those of us who pound upon
                                        the
typekeys, is...running out of creative ideas.
What do we do when we feel "all dried up"?
Well, instead of pushing harder, we do just
                                        the opposite...we relax more.
And, we get alone and, in secret, hand over
our problems and anxieties to our Heavenly Father.
He takes us to His well that never
runs dry, gives us water that refreshes through
and through, and replenishes our supply.
Isn't it interesting that the tastiest drink of all
                                        is always free!

TRUE SUCCESS

                                                         TRUE SUCCESS

                                              Wrote David O. McKay...
                                              "No other success can compensate
                                              for failure in the home."

                                              Wherein doth true happiness lie,
                                              if not
in the home?
Where dear hearts are gathered 'round
                                              a warm and gentle hearth.
Where knightly dreams are often common-place.
Where dragons may still be slain and
                                              castles may still be scaled.
Where little girls have fond dreams of
                                              becoming like their mothers.
Where little boys strive to emulate the
                                              noble actions of their dads...
If we would change our world (and
it is never too late to start)...let us begin
where we should ... in the home.

ON BEING KINDER

                                                          ON BEING KINDER

"Shall we make a new rule of life tonight."
wrote James Barrie, "always to try to be a
                                            little kinder than is necessary?"

We Live in a world in which governments

and institutions oft time appear desirous of
                                            substituting cruelty for kindness.
You and I can reverse this trend, but it has
to be accomplished on an individual, personal
                                            heart-to-heart basis.

                                            Tonight, be kinder...

                                            to yourself
                                            to your spouse
                                            to your children
                                            to your neighbors
                                            to your world.
                                            Kindness that transcends necessity
                                            asks us
to go the second smile.

WHILE IT IS DAY

                                                         WHILE IT IS DAY

While it is day, let us...
                                                Relieve ourselves of all bitterness.
Become a vessel filled with love
Learn the importance of eternal truths.
                                                Acquire the art of affirmation.
Realize the power in pondering and prayer.
Love ourselves so that we may love others.
Vocally tell our family that we love them.
Lay down the sword of malice.
Pick up the shield of faith.
Enjoy the simple rhythms of nature.
Make of our lives a psalm.
While it is day let us bask in the sun.
