                                      PSALM 19:1,7,9,10,11

                                      The heavens declare
                                            the glory
                                              of God
                                      And the firmament
                                            sheweth
                                         his handiwork

                                      The law of the Lord
                                            is perfect
                                       converting the soul

                                        The testimony
                                                of
                                             the Lord
                                             is sure
                                          making wise
                                           the simple

                                    The fear of the Lord
                                            is clean
                                       enduring forever

                                The judgments of the Lord
                                              are
                                     true and righteous
                                          altogether

More to be desired are they
                                          than gold
                                Yea, than much fine gold
                                         Sweeter also
                                         than honey
                                   and the honeycomb
By them is your servant warmed
                                              and in
                                         keeping of them
                                            there is
                                         great reward

                                 GOODBYE DOT, FOR AWHILE

We will miss your soft white and
                               black fur, your kindness, sweetness,
and gentleness. Like our other cats
you gave us pure pleasure. We loved
to have you come around. We will
miss your sweet and gentle purr. We
hope to have you with us again, some
                               day.

WHAT'S AFOOT?

6/26/2014

                                          WHAT'S AFOOT?

A few years ago, we underwent minor
surgery on our right foot, which caused
us to reread and better appreciate the
scripture, "If the foot says, 'I am not a
part of the body because I am not a hand,'
that does not make it any less of a part
of the body." (My paraphrase of First
                             Corinthians 12:21.)

Obviously, we never miss a foot until we
                             need one.

An old proverbial question keeps running
                            through our mind..."What mischief's afoot?'"

And E.E. Cummings pegged us well when he
penned..."The sweet small clumsy feet of April
came into the ragged meadow of my soul."

                            Shakespeare's advice struck a responsive
cord within us..."The game's afoot: Follow
                            your spirit." (
King Henry V). Sherlock Holmes
                            picked up on that one.

Parenthetically, our spirit gained much from
                            this experience.

With faith in Him who watcheth o'er
                            our every footstep,
we envision that day when our souls
shall truly be footloose and fancy free.

                                    I will love thee
                                       O Lord, my strength

THE DANDLE BOARD

                                          THE DANDLE BOARD

Watch out for the dandle board of life!
As you all know, life is full of ups and
and downs. Most of us who have lived
long enough to qualify for the moniker
of senior citizen, have come to realize
that we sit upon a board that often
teeters, except, of course, when it
                               totters.

Many of us have experienced those back
                               end splinters while awkwardly positioned
upon this seesaw we call life. A few,
including myself, have actually fallen off
our dandle board while trying to balance
our poor choices with those waxed more
prudent. And, we have a found a price is
                               almost always paid.

Life, itself, may force us to ride the teeter
totter. But, the final outcome of our ride
may depend on our choices made along
the way, and and our ability to balance.

I LOVE TODAY

                                                I LOVE TODAY

                                       William Allen White wrote...
"I am not afraid of tomorrow,
                                       for I have seen yesterday,
                                       and I love today."

We also love today, for within
                                      the boundaries of its hours,
                                      we may...

                                              Look backward
                                                Plan ahead
                                                  Give thanks
                                              Seek service
                                                Press forward
                                                  Think quietly
                                              Speak softly
                                                Love people
                                                  Pursue Holiness

                                         We...shall love today
                                         We shall...love today
                                         We shall love...today

                                                                                     POP (1977)

                                               Some have called him Father
                                  Some have called him Dad
We have always called him Pop
Ever since we were a lad

It takes a life of selflessness
To become the cream of the crop
But we know one who fits the bill
                                  We affectionally call him Pop

We have met the best of the best
And watched those at the top
But none are dearer to our heart
Than the man whom we call Pop

Oh, heros may come and go
And we hope they will never stop
But we have one we're fondest of
He's a gentleman we call Pop

                                         PSALM 17:1,5,7,8

                                                                     Hear the right
                                               O Lord
                                          Attend unto my cry
                                      give ear unto my prayer
                                         that goeth not out
                                            of feigned lips

                                       Hold up my goings
                                            in thy paths
                                               that my footsteps
                                                  slip not

                                             Shew
                                        thy marvelous
                                            loving
                                            kindness
                                             O thou
                                            that savest
                                        by thy right hand

                                             Keep me as
                                       the apple of thine eye
                                               Hide me
                                         under the shadow
                                            of thy wings

884

                                                         884

Ever since the tower of Babel,
                                husbands and wives, parents

                                and children, have often found
                                it difficult to communicate
                                positively with one another.

                                Many hot, insulting, degrading,
                                ego-deflating words have crept

                                unfortunately into our language
                                causing much family unrest and
                                discord.

Perhaps it would benefit us to change

some of these debasing words into numbers.
                                For example...

"432 up, dear, we don't want to be 731 for dinner."
                                "There you go again, 849, 849, 849."
"I am not 849ing. But, you know how much
your mother 947 us to be 504."
"Listen, that 318 436 247 never has dinner

                                ready on time."
"Maybe so, but I don't think it was
necessary for you to refer to her as a 318 436 247."
                                "You're right I simply over-reacted. Please forgive

my 619 language. My mother-in-law is not really a
318 436 247. In fact, she's very sweet and nice."
"And, you're very sweet yourself dear. Oh! 884!
                                I just broke a nail."

QUESTIONS

                                            QUESTIONS

We recently read an exciting article
                              by Edith Schaeffer regarding the
                              questions God asks.
This motivated us
to turn to our concordance and search
                              for questions of scriptural importance.

Here are some of the power-packed
                              verses we found:

"Am I my brothers keeper?" (Gen. 4:9)
"Can a man take fire into his bosom
and not be burned?" (Proverbs 6:27)

"Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?"
                             (Psalms 78:19)
"Will a man rob God?" (Malachi 3:8)

"What man is there of you, whom if his
son ask bread, will he give him a stone?"
                             (Matt 7:9)

"Is there no balm in Gilead?" (Jere. 8:22)
"Behold, I am the Lord of all flesh:is there
anything too hard for me?" (Jere. 32:27)

                             Although these questions are tremendously
important, it is our answers to them that mayl
                             well determine our destiny.
