                                                                              PSALM 114:1,2,3,4,7

                                           When Israel went out
                                           of Egypt, the house of
                                           Jacob
                                           From a people of strange
                                           language

                                           Judah was his sanctuary
                                             and Israel his dominion
                                               The sea saw it
                                                 and fled

                                                   Jordan was driven back
                                                     The mountains skipped like rams
                                                       and little hills like lambs

                                                                Tremble
                                                               thou earth
                                                            at the presence
                                                               of the Lord
                                                            at the presence
                                                         of the God of Jacob

                                                                  'TWAS A MOTORCYCLE SKY

                                     'Twas a motorcycle sky
                                     With put-put clouds all around
The dark midnight road rose up
And where was I as the moon looked down
Casting white shadows on the dour ground
                                     Without a sound being made
                                     In silence o'er the town
As I listened and I heard
                                     Put-put, put-put, put

                                                                                   ON THIS DAY

                                          An unknown author has written
                                          "On this day...
                                          Mend a quarrel
                                          Search out a forgotten friend
                                          Dismiss suspicion,
                                          And replace it with trust
                                          Write a love letter
                                          Share some treasure
                                          Give a soft answer
                                          Encourage youth
                                          Manifest your loyalty,
                                          In a word or deed
                                          Keep a promise
                                          Find the time
                                          Forego a grudge

                                          Forgive an enemy
                                          Listen
                                          Apologize if you were wrong
                                          Try to understand
                                          Flout envy
                                          Examine your demands on others
                                          Think first of someone else
                                          Appreciate, be kind, be gentle
                                          Laugh a little more
                                          Deserve confidence
                                          Take up arms against malice
                                          Decry complacency

                                          Express your gratitude
                                          Worship your God
Gladden the heart of a child
                                          Take pleasure in the beauty
                                          And wonder of the earth"

                                                                          PSALM 113:1,2,3,4.5,7,8

                                         Praise ye the Lord
                                         Praise, O ye servants
                                         of the Lord

Blessed be the name of the Lord
                                           from this time forth
                                             and for evermore

From the rising of the sun
unto the going down of the same
                                          the Lord's name be praised

                                                 The Lord is high
                                                 above the nations
                                                 and his glory
                                                 above the heavens

Who is like unto the Lord our God
                                                 who dwelleth on high
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust
                                                 and lifteth the needy
                                                 out of the dunghill
That he might set him with princes
even with the princes of his people

THE GLORY OF GOD IS NOT HIDDEN

THE GLORY OF GOD IS NOT HIDDEN

The glory of God is not hidden
Nor is it forbidden, but is
                                   Open and offered to all
                                   To you, to me
We just have to be willing
To see, for it is all around us
                                   And within us
And it is free for the asking
                                   Free for the taking
Given to us from our loving
                                   And merciful God
                                   Who truly cares for us
                                   Daily and forever
                                   Indeed

RAISING SAND

                                                                                          RAISING SAND

                                                                            "The golden moments of the
stream of life rush past us," wrote
George Eliot, "and we see nothing
                                              but sand."

Have we ever let any golden moments
                                              slip past? What about...

The time our children wanted our attention,
but we continued reading the paper
The time our kids wanted to get an
ice-cream cone, but we took a nap
The time our wife wanted some empathy,
but we gave her an argument
The time that young man in the twelfth pew
wanted a kind word, but we gave him
                                              a snubbed nose

Oh, Lord, deliver us from raising sand
Help us, instead, to make of our moments,

                                              golden grains of sunshine

                                                     SEND ME

If you read the New Testament carefully, you
will discover that the disciples of Jesus Christ
were usually being sent somewhere, in distance from
a half mile to several hundred miles.

If Christ were to send us somewhere today,
would it matter where? And, would we go?

Ponder these  lines by George M. Matheson...

                                         Send me
To the hearts without a home
To the lives without a love
To the crowd without a compass
To the ranks without a refuge
                                         Send me
To the children whom none have blessed
To the famished whom none have visited
To the demoniacs whom none have claimed
                                         Send me
To the fallen whom none have lifted
To the lepers whom none have touched
To the bereaved whom none have comforted
Then I shall have the birthright of the fist born
Then shall I have the blessing of the mighty God of Jacob

                                                Praise ye the Lord
                                                Blessed is the man
                                                  that feareth the Lord

                                                      in his commandments

His seed shall be mighty upon the earth

                                                And his righteousness endureth forever

Unto the upright there shall ariseth

                                                            in the darkness

                                                         trusting in the Lord

                                                      His heart is established
                                                    He shall not be afraid
                                                  Until he see his desire
                                                Upon his enemies

IN THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW

IN THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW

This week, Donna and I attended the funeral
of our daughter-in-laws' mother. She passed
away after a relative short battle with cancer.
Her family and friends shall greatly miss her.

We have been to more funerals in the last
twelve months than in the prior forty years.
It obviously must come within the territory
                                   of senior citizenship.

Though we may walk and live in the valley
of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil
or pain or sorrow. We seek for comfort and
consolation from our family, friends, and our
                                   God.

At birth, we are born into this valley, and
here we shall live until we, too, are called
home by the one who sent us here.

It is often difficult for us who are left behind
to exuberantly carry on when a loved one
leaves us. But what better choice do we have?
                                   Carry on, and go forward.

May peace be upon your souls.

THE SUN COMES UP IN THE MORN

6/15/2016

THE SUN COMES UP IN THE MORN

"Always again," wrote Richard L. Evans,
"there is another day. Always, eternally,
there is hope and faith...and morning."

Regardless of the clouds banked against us
Whether things go all right or all wrong
We have this witness to bear
The sun still comes up in the morning
The sun comes up in the morn.

Even if our day has been discouraging
And our paths have been strewn with stones
This is a truth we love to share
The sun still comes up in the morning
The sun comes up in the morn.

So, if today's thunder has muffled our song
And shaken our soul and rattled our bones
With you we rejoice and gratfully declare
The sun still comes up in the morning
The sun come up in the morn.
