    Spiritual Rx (Thought Six)

The holidays  have ended (if not all the football
games) and it's back to work for most of us. The
scriptures indicate a norm of six days work to one day
   of rest.

Herein are some Scriptures we hope you'll find
helpful for those "working" days ahead...

   1. Psalms 3:6..."There be many that say, who will
shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy
   countenance upon us."

   2. Psalms 12:6... "The words of the Lord are pure
words: as silver tried in a furnance of earth, purified
   seven times."

   3. Psalms 13:6..."I will sing into the Lord because
he hath dealt bountifully with me."

    4. Psalms 23:6..."Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in
the house of the Lord for ever."

   5. Psalms 62:6..."He only is my rock and my salvation:
he is my defense" I shall not be moved."

   6. Psalms 47:6... "Sing praises to God, sing praises:
sing praises unto our King, sing praises."

7.Psalms 89:6..."For who is in heaven can be compared
unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can
   be likened unto the Lord?"

   8. Psalms 96:6..."Honor and majesty are before him"
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary."

   9. Psalms 107:6..."Then they cried unto the Lord
in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their
   distresses."

   10. Psalms 150:6..."Let every thing that hath breath
praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord."

HOLY MATRIMONY!  600

                               HOLY MATRIMONY  600

                  An interesting question just popped
into my mind, and I thought that I
would ask it for all of you husbands
                  out there...

Are you learning to live with you wife more,
or are you learning to live with her less?

Now I anticipate some wise wag to reply,
"I'm learning to live with my wife, more or less."

But, that's not exactly what I had in mind.
What was inferred by the question, was
                   the supposition that marriage partners
                   should grow together...closer and closer..
Only then does holy matrimony occur.

Marriages were meant to be continually beautiful.
The Lord is glorified by and through holy matrimony.

How does you grow your marriage this night?
Together, or apart, holy marriages take continual
                   time and patience.

A blissful state of matrimony take a lifetime
                   Of work, worship and prayer.

The Failure  596

He did not start talking until he was three.
He was told by one of his high school teachers,
"You will never amount to anything."

He became a high school dropout.

He failed his first college entrance exams,
being deficient in botany, zoology and foreign
                   languages.

He had to study for an extra year to gain
admittance to college. And, once there,
"he cut lectures, read what he wanted,
tinkered in school labs, and incurred the
                   wrath of his teachers."

He was called "a lazy dog" by one of his
                   college professors.

He passed his final exams by cramming
and graduated from college. But, he
antagonized his professors so much so
that he was unable to obtain a university
                   teaching post.

He finally wound up as an examiner
for the patent office. While there,
                   he had time to think.

He submitted a paper to a scientific journal
that revolutionized the thinking of the scientific world.

                   His name...Albert Einstein.

NO BILLS! 594

                                NO BILLS! 594

Wow! The things some people do
just utterly amaze us at times.

We just finished reading about Dr. Minnie Cohen,
of Toronto, Canada, who, since 1922, has treated
thousands of patients...and has never sent a bill
                 to any of them!

Over the long haul, humanity has gotten stuck
with some pretty bad names, many of them deserved.

But, it's the Minnie Cohens of the world who continually
inspire us to be better and to do better.

Thanks, Doctor Cohen for touching our lives as you have.

SILENT MAJORITY 597

                                            SILENT MAJORITY 597

                           The silent majority is speaking!

                           State legislators are listening!

Soon, very soon, Congress will have
to respond affirmatively  to the desires
                          of the people.

The silent majority is crying out, loud
and clear, for an end to deficit spending
                          by our Federal Government.

The silent majority is demanding a balanced
                          Federal budget.

So far, 27 of the 36 states needed, have passed a
                          resolution demanding a constitutional amendment
                          banning deficit spending.

A sound fiscal policy carried on by our Federal
government is needed and needed now.

We should keep the pressure on until the bills
are passed and the legislation becomes operative.

IT'S STILL A GRAND OLD FLAG

Pardon me while I propose a toast
For I certainly intend to boast
Of a land that has the most
                                      Of nearly everything supreme

O how I love that old American dream
Where old glory still flies high
And freedom's still our battle cry
Let me salute that old American flag
Until the very day I die

For it's still a grand old flag
And I certainly intend to brag
For its colors still ring true
I just want to say to you
                                      Hooray, Hooray; Hooray for you
And the red, white, and blue

FOURTH OF JULY (1976)

                                                       FOURTH OF JULY  (1976)

                                  Dear Tammy, Billy, Matt, Heather

Well kids, today is our country's
                                  200th birthday. Ain't it grand.
                                  Hope you enjoy the day.

We realize you are kind of young
                                  to appreciate the importance of
this day, but then most of us are.

1776 seems so long ago. In fact,
most of us have difficulty remembering
                                  Viet Nam, Korea, or WWII.

Many a mother and father have watched
their son or daughter go off to war, never
                                  to return again.

We live and prosper so well because so
many of our patriots died that we might
                                  live free.

Freedom and liberty form the cornerstone
of our Republic. This is their legacy.
May you always preserve it and cherish it.

                                  Love, Mommy and Daddy

A GOOD POEM  590

                                    A GOOD POEM  590

              After reading Longfellow's poem,
"The Day is Done," these thoughts
              crossed our mind...

We may get closer to our best selves
by reading a few lines of a good poem
than by any other means we know

We may feel better about ourselves, our God,
and our fellowman by reading and relaxing
with a few lines of a good uplifting of poem

We may put aside the strife and strain that
often racks the brain by reading a few lines
of an uplifting poem that encourages and
comforts our mind and soothes the soul

We read then, these lines of Longfellow
            and rejoice...we read

"The poem from the treasured volume
            The poem of thy choice,
And lend to the rhyme of the poet
            The beauty of thy voice."

                                   ISAIAH 57:15,18,19

                                   For thus saith the high
                                   and lofty one that inhabiteth
                                   eternity, whose name is
                                   Holy

I dwell in the high and holy place
with with him also that is of a
contrite and humble spirit, to revive
the spirit of the humble, and to revive
the heart of the contrite ones

I have seen [man's] ways and will
                                   heal him
I will lead him also and restore
comforts unto him and too his
                                   mourners

I create the fruit of his lips
Peace, peace to him that is
far off and to him that is near
saith the Lord and I will heal
                                   him

HOURS THAT COUNT  589

6/23/2019

                            HOURS THAT COUNT  589

                  An unknown writer has written...

"It's not the hours you put in,
but what you put in the hours
                  that counts."

Did you know that a year with 365 days
is composed of 8,760 hours. Assuming
we average 8 hours of sleep a day,
we have 5,840 waking hours in which to think
                  and feel and act.

In the year ahead, how many of these nearly six
thousand hours shall we glorify our Heavenly Fater and
                  humbly serve our fellow man.

To think in such large terms is somewhat
                  mind-boggling. Perhaps this is one
of the reasons why God segmented
our life's hours into twenty-four hour periods...
that we might better live our life for him... one day...
                  one hour... at a time.
