SOMETHING FINE AND GLORIOUS 657

                                                            Something Fine and Glorious 657

"It is good that a man should both hope and quietly
wait for the Salvation of the Lord." (Lamentations 3:26)

We are not usually early risers. We enjoy staying
up late at night, and sleeping late as possible in the
        morning,

But today, we rose early (for us) and went into our
study and started to write. And we looked out our window
at the silent sleeping dawn awakening ever so gently and quietly
over the dew drenched lawn and leaves, and contentedly breathed
in the glory of the silence and the stillness of those morning
moments and became aware that in the quiet and in the beauty
of that time, we were not alone,

There is something to be said...for silence. Something
         indeed. Something fine...and glorious.

THE UPRISING

                                          THE UPRISING

One of the best remedies for
                                  depression
or downheartedness
                                  is...
an old fashion uprising.

                                  Remember...
                                  Time does pass
                                  Feelings and moods do change
                                  Spirits can be lifted

Some suggestions for a good uprising
                                  might well include...
                                  Listening to majestic organ music
                                  Jogging three miles
                                  Talking with empathetic friends
                                  Getting a good, uninterrupted nap
Playing with a child or a puppy
Gazing, in silent wonder, at the stars
                                  Reading the Scriptures
                                  Knelling in private prayer
The desire to rise upward is a Holy
                                  aspiration

May your days be filled with many
                                  joyous
uprisings

PURE COURTESY

                                                                PURE COURTESY

"Life is not so short," wrote
Emerson, "but there is always time
                                    for courtesy."

We live in a world of push
and shove.  In a world of little
give and a lot of take. In a world
                                    in which the courteous person
                                    becomes one of the fairest...
                                    and rarest... gems to contemplate.

In commenting on the life of the
                                    great sportswriter, Grantland Rice,
                                    Rice, Bruce Barton said,
                                    "He had pure courtesy."

                                    What a great compliment...one
of the finest compliments any of us
                                    could receive.

Would not our lives be enriched
if every thought, or word, or deed
                                    were a courteous one?

Take time for courtesy. It is a most
                                    enviable attribute.

                                                   When the going gets tough...

NAME PLEASE!

                                                                           NAME PLEASE!

Good friends of our family recently had a new

born baby girl. Mother and child got along fine but
they ran into a slight problem...The hospital said

they could not leave until they had named the babe.

(We can just imagine what went on...The names have
been changed to protect the guilty.)

Mary: "This is terrible, John, maybe we could
                                                sneak out around midnight."

John: "Sorry, I've been told they double the
                                                security force after visiting hours."

Mary: "John you're the president of a bank, you're
                                                intelligent, think of something!"

John: "Well, she was a couple of days late, we could
                                                always name her "Over Due."

Mary: "Very funny. I think I will cry. I want to
go home to mother. You stay here with the baby."

John: "I know, why don't you name her 6-9-79 for
                                                the day she was born?"

Mary: "They want a name, not a number."

John: "How about 'Spring Delight' or 'Daylight
                                                Savings Time.'"

Mary: "A first and middle name, that's all we need."

John: "Why don't we let her last name be used also
for her first and middle names. That way, she'll never
have to worry about whether her first or last name comes
first when filling out a job application of loan format?"

(The last time we talked with Mary on the phone, no
name had been decided upon, but a Coleman stove had been
smuggled into Mary's hospital room and light housekeeping was
                                                ongoing.

CREAM OF THE CROP

                                                                      CREAM OF THE CROP

You're the cream of the crop
                                                       if you...
Are as courteous to your spouse
as you are to your favorite business
                                                       acquaintances
                                                       Listen as intently and as
                                                       empathetically to your children
as you do the TV re-runs
                                                       Have learned the verbal art
of saying "I'm sorry," and "I love
                                                       you."
Can manage to go twenty-four hours
                                                       without a single complaint
                                                       Can applaud another person's
                                                       ideas or handiwork without comparing
his or hers to your own
                                                       Can instill within your family,
and others, the desire to have
                                                       the upward reach

                                              17
Even if the fig tree does not bloom
and the vines have no grapes,
even if the olive tree fails to produce
and the fields yield no food,
even if the sheep pen is empty
and the stalls have no cattle--
                                              18 Even then
I will be happy with the Lord.
I will truly find joy in God, who saves me.
19 The Lord Almighty is my strength.
He makes my feet like those of a deer.
He makes me walk on the mountains.

Pardon me while I propose a toast
For I certainly intend to boast
Of a land that has the most
                                      Of nearly everything supreme

O how I love that old American dream
Where old glory still flies high
And freedom's still our battle cry
Let me salute that old American flag
Until the very day I die

For it's still a grand old flag
And I certainly intend to brag
For its colors still ring true
I just want to say to you

HAVE YOU ANY METTLE?

HAVE YOU ANY METTLE?
My fellow Americans,
This is the time that challenges our mettle and our
resolve, for there are now many men and women
who desire to destroy our country and abolish the
liberties and freedoms we enjoy as set up at the
beginning of our country.
Fifty-nine years ago, thousands of our sons and
daughters went to war on two fronts: Europe and
the Pacific. Many of them sacrificed their lives and
never returned home.
Today, we are at war again. But, this time the
enemy is not on foreign soil, but rather, resides
within the the very shores of the United States of America.
Presently, there is a very large contingency that is
planning and plotting the destruction of our
country.
This evil mass of malcontents is bent on
destroying every business, church, and statue
they encounter.
They have no regard for human life, nor for a
person's home or lands, or property.
These thugs do not care about our Constitution,
nor for the Bill of Rights contained therein.
Laws and the rule of laws mean nothing to them.
The burden of our country's defense is presently
carried on the shoulders of the police in each of
our cities, President Trump and a few Republicans.
For personal gain, the Democrats, in total, support
and encourage the vandals.
These vandals must either eradicated, incarcerated
These vandals must either eradicated, incarcerated
or redeemed. There are no other choices.

Time is short. The river of our generation is about
to flow into the ocean of history.
Now is the time to act and free our land
of these despots.
