                                        PSALM 119 DALETH:25,26,27,30,32

My soul cleaveth unto the dust
Quicken thou me according to thy word
I have declared thy ways, and thou heardest me
                                               Teach me thy statutes

                                              Make me to understand
                                                 the way of thy precepts
                                                   So shall I talk
                                                     of thy wondrous works

I have chosen the way of truth
Thy judgments have I laid before me

I will run the way of thy commandments
when thou shalt enlarge my heart

                                                   LIFT UP THE FALLEN

                                                   Lift up the fallen
                                                   For who can tell
                                                   What misfortunes
                                                   They've suffered
                                                   Or just why they fell

                                                   Lift up the fallen
                                                   Those grown weary
                                                   Full of dispair
                                                   Offer them courage
                                                   And comfort
                                                   Show them you care

                                                   Lift up the fallen
                                                   Comes the clarion call
                                                   And lead them to Jesus
                                                   Before the night fall

Lift up the fallen
                                                   Lift them we pray
                                                   Lift up the fallen
                                                   While it is day

HIGH, WIDE AND HANDSOME

                                                           HIGH, WIDE AND HANDSOME

Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick once wrote
a  letter to the author-philosopher, Wilfred
                                      A. Peterson, in which he said...

"I am in my ninety-first year and am
crippled by arthritis, my handwriting shows
that, but in my spirit...I am high, wide and
                                      handsome."

High...As our days go by Lord, let us
realize that God has given each of us
                                      a high and holy calling.

Wide...May our arms become like unto
Thine, O Lord, wide open, willing to embrace,
with love , those who disagree with us as well
                                      as those who love us.

Handsome...And may  our minds and hearts
become so daily attuned to Thy Spirit that
                                      our outward countenance may become
                                      spiritually and holy handsome.

May we glow as we grow.

                                                AUGUST SAINTS

The world needs august men, and women, too
                                   Who with great deliberate minds
                                   Can think things through
                                   Who lead compassionate lives
                                   With hearts that are true

                                   O, my worthy, valiant saints
                                   Be courageous in the fight
                                   Virtuous in your daily dealings
                                   Trustworthy and undaunting
                                   Throughout your illustrious life

All too soon the blazing sun shall set
May your lives be lived with no regret
Let it be said, when your lives are through
They completed with preeminence the tasks
                                   They were called to do

And honor and glory were added to their names

                                   (Written August 23, 2016)

                                      Deal bountifully with thy servant
that I may live and keep thy word

Open thou mine eyes that I may behold
wondrous things out of thy law

                                      My soul breaketh
                                        for the longing
                                          that it hath

                                                           TO RACE AGAIN

                                                            Running
                                            I swiftly go
                                            Toward the finish line
                                            Turning around
                                            I see my nearest competitor
But alas, I fail to see
                                            The pebble in my way
                                            Twisting my ankle
                                            I go down
                                            Rapidly, I rebound
                                            But it is too late
                                            The race is over
                                            My time is spent
                                            I must wait
                                            Until another day
                                            To race again

FIVE IN A ROW

                                                FIVE IN A ROW

Did you know you can tell something,
even if only vaguely, about a person's
financial status by what he eats for lunch?

Last week, (all of our creditors please take
note) our wife, for five days in a row, packed
in our dune-buggy lunch box, a solitary meal
                                                of peanut and butter sandwiches.

Now, when anyone asks us how we are able
to keep our weight down, we tell that we are
on a strict carbohydrate diet...and that we
                                                worry alot.

At least with this diet, we don't have to worry
about foods with a high cholesterol content or
an over exposure to high protein side effects,
And the adverse monetary consequences are
                                                nearly negligible.

Our stomach just gastrically interrupted us and
suggested the we ask our wife to slip in a bologna
sandwich every five days...just to break the monotony.

THE SPECTATOR

                                                                            THE SPECTATOR

  Spring arrived quietly
                                                    Barely noticed this year
                                                    Almost like a spectator
                                                    In this game called life
Hurrying past us to her seat
                                                    Without a word or whisper
                                                    Just quickly passed by us
                                                    And sat unobtrusively
                                                    Close by our side
                                                    And nudged us
                                                    Gently on the arm
                                                    While intimating promises
                                                    Of pleasant times in store

                                                    For those willing to wait
                                                    Patiently on the Lord
                                                    With confidence knowing
                                                    That the seeds they've planted
                                                    Will blossom once again
                                                    As they've often done before

INDECISIONS

8/11/2016

                                                     INDECISIONS

In this life, man basically makes three
types of decisions...right ones, wrong ones and
                                     indecisive ones.

Many essays have been penned in favor of
making right decisions. And ten times that
number have been penned regarding wrong
                                     decisions.

But, we daresay there have been but a scant
handful that have been written, either pro or con,
                                     concerning...indecisions.

Personally, when all the facts and evidence
are in, we believe the world would have been much
better off with more indecisiveness, not less.

Certainly, there would have been fewer wars,
if there had been more pondering and irresolution.

And we firmly believe there would have much
fewer divorces had one or both parties said, "I
think I shall get a divorce from you someday,
perhaps er, uh, maybe in a little while," rather
                                     than a quick unreasoned "Good-bye, I'm leaving."

We believe the world has lasted as long as it has
because enough of us have hesitatingly vacillated
between receiving and giving, between hurting and
                                     helping, living and dying.

I can't decide whether to stop here or not.
                                     What do you think?
