GOODBYE TO SUMMER

                                              GOODBYE TO SUMMER

                                We ride the surf
                                No more
                                Nor dive beneath
                                The breakers
                                Nor tumble
                                Toward the shore
                                We leave behind
                                The friendly sand crab
                                To burrow in the soft,
                                Silky sand

                                All alone
                                Rusty buckets
                                And tiny toy shovels
                                Gone for another season
                                Good times
                                Fun Times
                                Gone
                                But not forgotten

FALL GUY

                                                    FALL GUY

Once again, it is that season of the year
which we enjoy bragging about so much
if we had a great deal to do with bringing
                                 it about).

                                 Autumn has arrived once again...
With flamboyant flare the eastern skies
are aflame with splashes of tangerine and gold.
here are plucky pecans and orange plastered
plump pumpkins, hot apple pie ala mode.
Brisk, invigorating walks down tawny leaved
                                 lanes. Yesterday remembered down golden
                                 green roads.

Each year we bask in the beauty of this wonderous
season. With deep breaths we inhale the expectant
exhilarating air as the passage of each day pushes
us closer toward Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Street lights, porch lights, parlor lights take on a
warm after glow and homes once again become
                                 our safe harbor.

To all of you who would join with us in celebrating
this glorious season...We salute you...as one fall
                                  guy to another.

TICK-TOCK 232

                                          TICK-TOCK 232

"It is possible to own too much,"
                             suggested Gene Brown, "A man
with one watch knows what time
it is; a man with two watches
                             is never sure."

This is similar to the statement
                             by the Apostle James (1:8)...
"A double minded man is unstable
                             in all his ways."

It is perhaps difficult for many of us
to consistently remain stable in our
                             every day, often-changing, challenging
                             and oft-times threatening world.

Perhaps one reason for our continued
inconsistencies in moral and spiritual living
is that...we fail to recognize that while all
of our parts are important ones, we could
                             not run
for a second if our Creator failed
                             or
refused to set our mainspring and minor
                             wheels in motion.

As in some watches, as also in most men,
it is very difficult for us to be ticking while
                             we're tocking.

To be in harmony with the Harmonizer of
the Universe would suggest we need...
a steady hum...which only He can give us.

                             tic-toc craze. 4.17.2020)

GET THE POINT?

                                        GET THE POINT?

                            Wrote an unknown author, "There
is no point at which having arrived,
                            we can remain."

Life may be viewed as a series of
points by which we quickly pass...
                            Our first tooth
                            Our first success
                            Our first birthday
                            Our first day of school
                            Our first genuine friend
                            Our first love
                            Our first child
                            Our first prayer

Minute by minute, day by day, we
pass by points never to be witnessed again.
These points become the sum total of our
life's experiences.  Many of us vainly strive
to hold on to some of our previous points
that have whizzed by, but we can't, for
                            they are gone.

Right now, this point in time is the only
point we really have, and our choices aresimple...
vacillation and stagnation or continuation and exaltation

Get the point.  Seize it. Elevate it. Fill it with joy and love
and the wonderment of living now.

EDUCATION

                                                            EDUCATION

                         "Education," wrote Robert Frost, is
the ability to listen to almost anything
without losing your temper or your self
                            confidence."

With this definition in mind, we wonder...
How many parents or teachers are educated.
Certainly, by Mr. Frost's definition, we often
tend to be somewhat ignorant and ignoble.

Would we make friends with others this day?
Then, we must listen without condemnation,
                            and without losing our temper.

At the beginning of every new school year,
thousands of  educators attempt to define
                            education.

We suspect that any definition that
omits the ability to listen with compassion shall
                            shall remain inadequate.

COUNTING MARSHMALLOWS

                                             COUNTING MARSHMALLOWS

Back in July (2013), when my
                           home state was breaking our
                           all time high temperature record,
I was lying in bed, trying to go
to sleep. Couldn't do it. I even
                           tried counting marshmallows.
Didn't work. So, I just laid there.

                           And after awhile, these thoughts
                           to mind...
                           Life should be made of
                                 Soft Words
                                 Sweet Hearts and
                                 Kind Joy

(This was an interesting article for
to write, because all these many decades,
I thought marshmallows was spelled the way
I have always pronounced the word-marshmellows.
What a surprise, after all these years, duh.
Nothing like a spell check, I say))

                              GOD IS THE SOURCE

                             God is the Source...
                             Of every breath we breathe
                             Of every good thought
                             Of every kind deed
                             Of every lesson taught

                             God is the Source...
                             Of every word sublime
                             Of every victory won
                             Of every moment of time
                             Of every rising sun.

                             God is the Source...
Of every sunset etched in gold
Of every seed of faith well sown
Of every hymn that stirs the soul
Of every crop of love full grown.
God is the Source...of everything known

TEMPUS FUGIT

                                       TEMPUS FUGIT

Time flies on wings of eagles.

                            We hardly realize or recognize
the passing of time. So quickly,
we come on stage for a little while,
and then we exit to we know not where.

Will we make a difference in this life?
Will anything we say or do be of benefit
to those around us? Will we make any
of our seconds count for good?
Let us ride up on wings of eagles
and make our time surely soar.

SHORTSIGHTED

                               SHORTSIGHTED

                          Wrote an unknown author,
"God
hides things by putting them near us."

On occasion, we have searched far, for those
things that count the most and have found them
close at hand...in our own home.
                          For instance...

Security...No child or adult can feel secure unless
he receives warmth and affection from those within
                          his own home.

Shelter...Offering protection from those age old dragons
of fear and failure.  Acting as the best first-aid station.
Supplying band-aids to our skinned egos and bleeding
                          souls.

Serenity...Home offers us familiar surroundings, quiet
hours, rest for the body, peace for the mind, solace
                          for the soul.

Happiness shall never be found "way out there" or
"far away." If it is to be found, it must be found within
                          us and... within our homes.
