CONSTANT COMPANION
Many years ago (in the late 1970's),
Donna and I and our four children,
Tammy, Billy, Matt and Heather, took, by
car, a very long trip from Maryland to Utah.
We dubbed our trip as "The Great Western
Trek." This was the first article (essay) written
about that trek.)
After several delays for various reasons
(including the burial of our old transmission
and fuel pump), our family finally drove off
on what we suspect shall be known for years
to come, as "The Great Western Trek."
We had planned to "take our time," but it
seems as though we may have over planned,
and under achieved. (We've been on the road
for more than nine days, and have yet to reach
our final destination.)
Costly delays, blistering temperatures and
unforseen interruptions have convinced us that
we still have much to learn in the areas of patience,
persistence, long-suffering and serenity while under duress.
Thank You, Father, for being so patient with us. Let us
travel with Thy Spirit as our Constant Companion.
