DEADER THAN A DOOR NAIL
In our way of thinking, there's only one thing
deader than a doornail, and that's...yesterday
Yesterday...
No amount of gold can buy it back
No ravings, no rantings
No cursings, no chantings
Can retrieve it
Whether yesterday was the greatest or the worse
day of your life, rest assured, it is gone
The poet Shelly penned these words:
"Fear not the future;Weep not for the past."
And might we not add:
Live now, for it's the only time we have
Use the memories of Yesterday
The lessons learned
The experiences gained
The joy, the pain
to send you forth confidently
productively, hopefully into the future
I went to the house of an old friend,
and the proprietor said, "He has moved on"
The name of the house was "Yesterday"
