IN THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW
This week, Donna and I attended the funeral
of our daughter-in-laws' mother. She passed
away after a relative short battle with cancer.
Her family and friends shall greatly miss her.
We have been to more funerals in the last
twelve months than in the prior forty years.
It obviously must come within the territory
of senior citizenship.
Though we may walk and live in the valley
of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil
or pain or sorrow. We seek for comfort and
consolation from our family, friends, and our
God.
At birth, we are born into this valley, and
here we shall live until we, too, are called
home by the one who sent us here.
It is often difficult for us who are left behind
to exuberantly carry on when a loved one
leaves us. But what better choice do we have?
Carry on, and go forward.
May peace be upon your souls.
