ON RAISING CHILDREN
Many centuries ago, Cicero posed this
question...
"What gift has Providence bestowed on man
that is so dear to him as his children?"
What present is so precious, or gift so rare,
or bounty valuable as to compare with the
birth of a child?
Were all the hills and mountains ours
Were all the rivers and valleys ours
Were are the exquisite minerals and
precious jewels ours
Were all the suns, yea, all the galaxies, ours...
They would all be quickly bartered away
for the life of a child
Donna and I are wealthy beyond measure...
four times over, all our treasures, at night time,
may be found...asleep in theirr beds.
