ON RAISING CHILDREN (THOUGHT EIGHT)
"When in doubt...don't shout." No matter what
a discussion or argument may be about, don't
shout.
We believe this to be a good suggestion
for raising children...and parents, too.
That partner we took to the alter...
That infant we brought into our home...
Are they not entitled to the tenderest
of tones...now, and always...
No adult likes to be put down, ever,
especially with rough and raucous rumbles.
Should we not then remember that our
children's feeling may also be easily bruised
by loud or angry voices?
If we reach a point in our communication
with our children, or our partners, in which
we must decide whether to shout or not, remember...
"When in doubt...don't shout."
It is much better to be silent...than sorry.
