ONE SPEED
Can you believe this? (Yes you can
believe it!) Already (since May) in fact, our four
children keep talking about the bicycles their
"Gramps" is going to get them for Christmas.
The weekly conversation goes something like
this...
"I want a three-speed bike." (Tammy, age 10)
"And i want a ten speed." (Billy, age 8)
"Me too!" (Matt, age 6)
"Yea!!!" (Heather, age 3)
"Well, says their father, "all you're going
to get is a one speed bike. Your grandfather's
bike had only one speed. Our bike has only one speed. And your bikes are only going to have
one speed...SLOW!"
As the old song suggest, May to December
can, at times, be a long, long time.
(P.S. They got what they wanted.)
