A PACKAGE FROM HOME
Have you ever received a package from
from home? Maybe while you were away
at college or in the service or just on a long
extended business trip. Perhaps its wrapper
possessed markings such as "fragile"
or "handle with care."
If we believe that we come from God, "who is
our home," then the first package we received
from Him was our very lives.
What a delicate package life is. How fragile.
Would we not be wise if we were to handle
every life "with care"?
Sooner or later, most of us receives a package
marked "Good News for You." (Unfortunately,
instead of unwrapping this particular package,
we often let it lie around on our coffee table,
unopened, or we toss it on the top shelf
of our closet.
Or in our rushing around, we simply consider
it to be another piece of junk mail and throw
it in the trash can with nary a backward glance.
While we seldom return our good news
package to the Original Sender, we often
ignore its valuable contents, usually to our
own peril. It's like receiving a cashier's check
for one million dollars and never cashing it.
This night as we read our mail, may we
realize that every package we may receive...
our family, our friends, the good news, or
life itself...is being sent to us by a loving,
benevolent Heavenly Father.
And His packages are sent to each of us
by special delivery.
