PROSECUTION BY LEAK
All we did was innocently, and, somewhat
jokingly, remark: "Don't listen to your mother,
kids, she doesn't know what she's talking about."
That did it!
Said our wife, "I deplore your prosecution by leak,
and believe it is beginning to undermine the confidence
needed in the governing of our family."
"What? What did you say?"
"It's not fair of you to bandy about unsubstantiated,
erroneous allegations right in front of your own children."
"I thought I had placed our conversation in a
a confidential context," we said.
"Confidential? Your voice was twice as loud as the
TV. If I didn't know better, I'd almost believe you
have a siege mentality."
"Have you been reading the Washington Post again?
Listen, we made a dumb mistake, that's all."
"I certainly agree with that analysis," said our wife.
"We apologize."
"Thats all right dear. It was probably just an
overreaction on your part, based on our close
relationship. As far as I'm concerned, it is forgotten."
"Ah, you're very gracious. And, I'll promise, on
a stack of Bibles, that it'll never happen again...
(At least not this week!)."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing, dear!"
