TEMPER, TEMPER
It was once reported that Gandhi
had the following epithet hanging
on the wall of his home...
"When you are right, you can afford
to keep your temper, and when you
are wrong, you can't afford to loose
it."
Wilfred Peterson once told his doctor
of his inability to control his temper.
His doctor suggested that that when
Mr. Peterson was on the verge of a
tempestuous explosion, that he should
take a deep, full abdominal breath and
hold it for about 30 seconds.
Mr. Peterson discovered this technique
had an almost magical calming effect.
The next time our emotions become
heated, try the doctor's prescription
and see it it works for you.
Personally, I quickly repeat the single
word, Jesus, not in angry tones, but
in a soft and calming modulation of
adoration.
