TO BUNT OR NOT TO BUNT
Bea and John dropped by a few nights ago,
and almost immediately we began discussing
the recent suspension of Reggie Jackson, who
who bunted when he should have hit away.
"You see, John, what happens when the players
willfully disregard a manager's orders?"
"Right, Right."
"If only Donna and the kids would follow my to the letter, and stop trying to talk and think so
much, there would be alot more teamwork around here."
"Honey, if you and John are going to carry on with
your silly baseball conversation, then give me some
money so Bea and I can go shopping."
"No."
"No, what do you mean, no?"
"See what I mean, John. every time I try to save
a little money around here, I come off looking like
a penny pincher."
"Bea, how many wives do you know who would
put up for this sort of thing, for more than twelve
years. It's not that I'm going to file a grievance suit it's just that I've always had to say 'Yes Sir' to him...
even on our honeymoon!"
"There seems to be a communication disconnect
here, John."
"Honey, if you don't give some money right now,
I'll give you a suspension you'll never forget."
"Okay, here"s your money. Go."
"Well, Morgan, you certainly handled that with
great diplomacy."
"Well, John, a good manager has to know when
to hit away and when to bunt."
