WAVE OF THE FUTURE
Wrote William Osler, "Banish the future;
live only for the hour and its allotted work.
Think not of the amount to be accomplished,
the difficulties to be overcome, but set earnestly
at the little tasks at your elbow, letting that be
sufficient for the day."
We certainly agree in substance with Mr. Osler's
admonition, but as we thought about his words,
the following lines came into our mind...
We cannot really banish the future
It shall appear soon enough
So, the best we can do
Is to plan and to stand
And the Lord will see us through
We cannot hold back
The wave of the future
It's coming in on high tide
So we'll prepare and be ready to go
To that land where the saints abide
Come on, oh wave of the future
With all your gusts and gales
In God's harbor we shall land
For Jesus is the captain of our ship
'Tis He who shall set our sails.
