ON REFLECTING
Somewhere, sometime, for the first time
in your life, you will step aside from your actions
and outside of your original thoughts and feelings.
And, you will judge the merits of some previous happening
in your life. And when you do this, by the very nature
of the act of reflecting, you shall begin to see and understand
and acknowledge one of the traits that separate man
from all other species of life, to wit: Man has the ability
to reflect.
And thus we become accountable for what we think
and say and do.
And since God knew it would be difficult for man
to continually live with his reflections, he sent
his son to save us from our tarnished reflections.
